Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annually, based on experience
Eden Green Technology is seeking a Food Safety Manager to lead and oversee all food safety activities within our facility. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations, certification standards, and internal policies. The Food Safety Manager will supervise Food Safety Technicians, conduct audits, manage inspections, and champion a strong food safety culture throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with proven experience in food safety management, regulatory compliance, and team supervision within a food production or controlled environment agriculture (CEA) setting.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and provide guidance to Food Safety Technicians.
- Develop and implement training programs focused on food safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review compliance, audit results, corrective actions, and food safety initiatives.
- Foster a proactive and consistent food safety culture throughout the facility.
Food Safety Compliance & Oversight
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, and SQF certification standards.
- Conduct facility-wide food safety risk assessments and implement timely corrective actions.
- Oversee and validate sanitation procedures across the facility.
- Ensure accurate documentation for traceability and regulatory requirements.
Audits & Inspections
- Prepare for and participate in third-party, customer, and regulatory food safety audits.
- Conduct internal audits and facility inspections to identify food safety risks and non-conformities.
- Collaborate with the Director of Food Safety to address audit findings and implement improvements.
Sample Collection & Environmental Monitoring
- Oversee collection and testing of water, soil, produce, and environmental swabs by Food Safety Technicians.
- Analyze test results and escalate food safety concerns to the Director of Food Safety.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of testing and sampling supplies.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and deliver ongoing food safety training for staff.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to continuously improve food safety practices.
- Promote and enforce a food safety-first mindset across departments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in food safety or regulatory compliance in a food production or CEA environment.
- HACCP and SQF certification required (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of FSMA, GMPs, FDA, USDA, and third-party audit requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with audit preparation, record-keeping, and corrective action processes.
- Ability to work in cold, humid, or fast-paced environments as required.
